Racquet sport enthusiasts in a pickle for places to play their new favourite game

- It may have a funny name, but an east-end couple are hoping that their new favourite sport catches on.
Pickleball is a racquet sport that is steadily growing in popularity across Canada. Invented in 1965 by an American congressman and his businessman friend, the game was meant to be something fun for the entire family to participate in.
"It's easy and it's a lot of fun," said Jenny Segstro, who began playing the game in June with her husband, Wynand. The Segstro's became aware of the game from friends who travelled to Florida in the winter. The low-impact sport, which is popular with seniors, already has a significant following in the United States.
